RJ week #1

                                                                                                                                                     8-29-11
Dear Mrs, Zrihen,
This week i was reading the book "The Last Song" By Nicolas Sparks, "Dad, is the police going to have to bring her back home again?" -Jonah on page 91, Jonah Ronnie's brother doesn't understand what is happening in her life now. Its not the law shes in trouble with, its her dad she isn't getting along with.  I did not finish my book this week since my book is over 300 pages.I used many reading strategies this week some reading strategies i used this week were before i skimmed & scanned through the book to find context clues & maybe run into a few Vocabulary words. While reading i took notes on every chapter, took note son every character and there poor choices since no character in the book is perfect. There is no after since i didn't finish my book. The genre of this book is Fiction, Realistic fiction and romance. This book is realistic fiction since the story could be real or the book is based on a true story but however the characters are non fictional.

The protagonist in this book is Ronnie, Will , & Ronnies family. The antagonist in this book is Blaze for trying to get ronnie "shoplifting" and in trouble with the law. Blaze boyfriend is also an antagonist since he fought will for Ronnie but it didnt work. The setting of this book is at Wrightsville beach in the summertime,  when it is hot at the beach all summer. The authors tone is mysterious and the readers mood which is me was excited and mysteriously reading carefully between the lines. The moral of this family is that family comes first, before everyone. Ronnie took a while to figure that out and it was too late. The authors point of view is second person, The pattern of organiation of this book is specail order. The authors purpose of making this book was to inform us about the moral, fmaily will stay forever that is why family comes first. I rate this book a 10 out of 10 because it takes place in my dream house and city and also since every detil in this book is so specific and i love the story! I reccomend this bok to everyone that loves to read romance & sad books !

Sincerely,
Your student,
Raheli Haliva.

  1. Dear Raheli,
What made the favorite passage you chose important to you? How do the reading strategies you do help you in your reading to your book to see if I should use the same ones? How are the protagonist round and dynamic? Whats the authors purpose, perspective? Whats special order I think you should revise and check the spelling in your star book? I think you should do a spell check throughout the book so you don't get mistakes that can be easily fixed? Do you recommend this book to me? Whats the setting and social conditions of the book? How would you rewrite the book if you had the chance to? What would you change in the book? What would you have done differently if you were the protagonist, antagonist, etc.. But overall you did great!
    Looking forward to your response.
    Sincere,
    Elias Rosenfeld

  2. Dear Raheli,
i really enjoyed reading your readers journal!
some questions i have to ask you is:
-why was the quote you chose your favorite?
-Also, were the characters dynamic or flat?
-If you had to pick one character, which one was your favorite?
-would you recommend this book to me?
-finally, if you have seen the movie, what are the differences and similarities between them?
all in all you did a great job!
I hope to read your response!
    love,
    Joelle Ben-Nissan:)

  3. Dear Raheli,

I enjoyed reading your blog. I am wondering why was that passage important to the book and to you? Why did you pick it? What vocabulary words did you run into while reading this book? What are some of the poor choices that the characters made? Are you sure that the authors purpose is to inform? In what ways are you similar or different with the characters? You did an amazing job.

    Love, Ioana Barbu

  4. Dear Elias, Joelle, & Ioana,

Thank you guys for reading my blog!

It seems to be that i did miss some elements in the rubric,
-I chose this quote because little kids don't understand teen's lives and really shouldn't get in it.
-My favorite character was definitely will! hes so nice, him and Ronnie make a perfect match.
-I would recommend this book to Joelle & Ioana! i am not so sure that Elias would like to read romance but you guys would love it! :)
-Joelle, i actually did watch the movie and there wasn't much of a difference. Accept they described Ronnie totally differently!
-There were many poor choices made in this book but since your wondering some of them! haha Ronnie fought with her parents and hasn't talked or seen her dad in 3 years and failed her EOC with every question wrong on purpose. Ronnie's Dad: Forcing Ronnie to play the piano and being too strict with her while she was staying at hes house for the summer. Will made a huge mistake by not telling Ronnie that it was really Lance that burned the church and not her dad.
-Like i said the authors purpose is either to inform or entertain every person could have a different choice but my choice was inform since the book did teach me a lesson. I actually don't think i relate to any character... maybe just a bit but nothing big.
    & Thank you guys !
